SAKE MATSURI

The SAKE MATSURI is the biggest citizens' festival in HigashiHiroshima; Japanese Sake is the theme.
It is held for two days in October every year in the area near JR Saijo-station and Sakagura Dori.
There will be many events for the whole family, a wonderful time for sake drinkers and non-drinkers alike.

Walking around 6 (+secret) checkpoints within Saijo's Streets
Price 300 yen
At the Starting Point (Tourism Information Center near JR Saijo Station ), you will get a Street Map and Wood Plate, on which you can place stamps after reaching the various checkpoints.
Checkpoints: Kuguri-mon, Aki-Kokubunji-Tou-ato, Matsuo-Jinja, Warouda(Kamoki), Shuzou-Kumiai(Breweries Association), and the Secret Point.

Japanese Sake Breweries Assembly
About 900 different kinds of Sake from all over Japan available for tasting.
Saturday 9th 11:00-21:00 (Admission until 20:30)
Sunday 10th 10:00-17:00 (Admission until 16:30)
Advance Tickets 1,000 yen, or 1,500 yen at the door.
You will get a small cup and the list of exhibited Sake brands; you can freely taste any kind of Sake in the park.
For food or soft drinks you need to buy Point Tickets, as you can't use cash in the park.
One Point is equivalent to 100 yen.
Once you leave the park, you can't re-enter.
*We appreciate your understanding if the Sake stoks run out.

SAKAGURA DORI

In area south of JR Saijo-station, there are many sake breweries near the old Saigoku(West Country) Road.
Because of the white walls and red brick chimneys, this area is known as "Sakagura Dori" or Sake Storehouse Street.
